It’s done … or not?
April 3rd, 2009
Heyho, like the picture’s already shown, I’ve got the bachelor in medical technology with the main subject medical computer science. And I’m done!
Or not?

No, I’m going on with my study. My next station is the University of Applied Sciences in Saint Augustin nearby Bonn. I will study Computer Science with main subject Biomedical Computer Science for master.
I hope I will be at least so successful like I was at UAS OOW.

the snow never end
April 13th, 2008The thread before this thread was only the beginning of the snowing. But see yourself what happened the following days:

During these “snowy” days I had done a lot of things. Also the following two things, which you can see in the gallery:
- walking trough the “Hohe Venn” with a friend and
- build the statue of liberty of Roetgen
Snow in the nice Eifel
March 22nd, 2008I drove home (in the North-Eifel) over the Easter Holidays. After a two days visit are now coming the first snowflakes. My first snow after a good year. There wasn’t any snow over the Wintertime in the Bay Area.
I also woke up this morning and I found a note with the info, that my mom is to the hair-cutter and wishes me a
“happy shovel snow”
Yeah, I cleaned up to four properties from a snowmantel of 15 cm (=6 inch, a half feet) and need now a fresh shower:

last week in the Bay Area
March 12th, 2008On the last day at the Office at the Starkey Hearing Research Center we took a group photo and I got gifts from my colleagues. It was a nice time to work with you, guys. Thank You!

After I picked up Thilo from the airport on friday evening we drove both home to the dormitory. Then Thilo went directly to bed, because he was up since many hours and was very tired, too.
The forecast said that only the next three days will be fine. Thus we decided to do much things, which we can do outside during the next three days (actually we planed to shop in SF on Sunday).
The first thing we did on Saturday was to drive to the AVIS-Car-Rental-Station and add Thilo as a second driver. FYI: This cost nothing extra. After that we drove to the Muir-Woods and spent two hours there. After that we drove to the Muir-Beach:
In the meantime said both of our stomaches, that they need some food to be happy. But we didn’t find any Fast-Food-Restaurant on the whole way back to SF. This was for us unbelievable. We couldn’t understand that there wasn’t any restaurant!?!? Even at the Golden Gate Bridge, where we stopped to take some nice photos. I thought we will find at least a McDonalds on the old discharged battery at the Golden Gate Bridge.
After that nice photoshooting we drove to Downtown SF with the hope for finding some food. There we determined that it is very difficult to turn off to one’s left if you are on the Market street. The whole street you are only allowed to turn off to one’s right. At which points can I turn left???
At least we found a Subway to satisfy our hunger. Then we drove to the Twin Peaks and took some nice photos of San Francisco by night. After that we drove home, because I was tired from driving and Thilo had to fight with the jetlag.
On Sunday we were at the aircraft carrier USS-Hornet. I thought we will left it after an one to two hours visit. We left the carrier after a five hours visit ![]()
Attention SHRC. What can you see on the following pics?
We didn’t have much time for anything else because of the long aircraft visit. Thus I showed Thilo the Berkeley Pier and Berkeley By Night from the top of the Berkeley Hills on the Lawrence Hall:
We booked tickets for the Alcatraz night tour on monday evening. Thus our goal on this day was the Fisherman’s Wharf. Our route to this point was over the Alamo Square with its famous Victorian Houses and the view at Downtown San Francisco, the Golden Gate Park, the Beach and the view from this site to the Golden Gate Bridge and to the Pier 39.
Alcatraz itself was very interestant. The Audio-Tour was very good and I don’t want to be a prisoner … never. On Alcatraz we could take some nice night-photos of San Francisco:
Tuesday was a very wet day. Also we paid out some money in San Francisco for new clothes.
On Wednesday we drove through the Napa-Valley to the Lake Berryessa. It was a nice tour and I’ve never seen so much lichen on the trees like on the trees nearby the lake. After that we drove the “long” way to the lighthouse at the Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. After that trip we drove the Interstate One back to Berkeley.
On Thursday morning I had my last breakfast in the Dining Room of the Dormitory and took some photos for you. Thus you can see, what I “could” eat every day (on this day I took as much as I could get).
After the breakfast we drove to China Town and in the evening was a farewell party at the dormitory. Heather baked two cakes for me and we had much fun in that night.
After less than four hours sleeping I drove Thilo and me to the airport. It wasn’t easy to find the rental-station, but at the end we were successful. After the Police-Officer checked us very clearly we were allowed to leave San Francisco … Good Bye Berkeley, San Francisco and Bay Area …. it was a beautiful time and I will come back to visit you all again.
On the plane we couldn’t sleep very well, also on the international flight from Charlotte to Frankfurt am Main.
We had to land in Philadelphia during the international flight and change the plane because of a malfunction in the air conditioner. This tooked three-four more hours of our flight.
Thilo and me arrived well in Frankfurt a.M. on Saturday and my father picked us up and brought us home.
After we talked with our families we only needed one more thing:
A comfortable bed …
